greenStrip: Quick introduction

An overview of the greenStrip calculation tool.

To design a strip foundation / wall footing:

  1. Start with the "Analysis Parameters". Choose your desired "National Annex", use default partial coefficients or define your own, enter the crack width limit, and choose between "Linear" or "Non-linear" analysis.
  2. In "Geometry", you define all the dimensions of the foundation. These will be visible in the diagrams to the left.
    1. The foundation can also be placed in insulation elements of various types.
    2. Last, but not least, you can also create construction layers. Define the first layer's relative position from terrain. From here, add multiple layers, give them a name, enter their thickness, choose their type, and define their density. Either on one side only, identical left and right side, or different arrangements.
  3. Under "Material Properties" you can define the concrete quality, cement class, relative humidity, and reference age and Global Warming Potential of the concrete.
  4. Under "Geotechnical Parameters" choose "Unknown" to use assumed values, or define your soil specifications.
    1. Choose and enter a constant or variable ground water level.
    2. Investigate a sandy or clay soil, or both, and enter the respective values — both the short- and long-term parameters. The same parameters can be defined for multiple soil layers. All values and layers will appear to the right as entered.
  5. In "Loads" you can add unlimited loads. Enter their name, limit state, duration, and magnitude. The "Longitudinal" view shows the static system and calculated section forces.
    1. You can also apply locally concentrated loads instead of uniform ones, and choose to apply it at either the center or edge of the foundation.
  6. Lastly, under "Reinforcement" you can choose to add fiber reinforcement and/or steel reinforcement, including rebars and stirrups.
  7. When all input has been entered, you can view the results, diagrams, loads, section forces, and CO2-calculations to verify your design before printing the auto-generated documentation.
