greenSlab: Automatic optimization

Optimizing a slab-on-ground using greenSlab is easy!

Here is an example of a slab with a 220 mm thickness. The largest utilization is 83% which means we are using too much material with a CO2 emission of 75 kg CO2e/m2. This can easily be reduced:

  1. Press "Optimise Slab" in the top right corner.
  2. Optimize the thickness and/or reinforcement. Optionally select which slab parts the optimization algorithm should analyze.
  3. Press "Optimise" and the best solution is found in seconds!
  4. Since this example optimizes the thickness for the internal part, the free edges and corners are over-utilized.
  5. To account for this, run the optimization algorithm again, this time finding the optimal reinforcement solution. Quickly adjust a few parameters such as steel quality and class, cover layer, and which diameters and spacings should be allowed.
  6. Then press "Optimise" to find the minimum required reinforcement to ensure sufficient bearing capacity everywhere.
  7. Select your preferred optimized reinforcement options to add them to the design. The optimal solution will achieve near 100% utilization. The CO2-emission is reduced to 51 kg CO2-equivalent per square meter. That's 32% savings in seconds!
